Review:
The film is about a meteor...a very big meteor that will kill all life on the Earth. The world needs a saviour so who do they pick? An oil
driller (Willis) and his staff who need to drill a hole in the meteor and put a bomb in the centre. It takes them a long time to be trained
well enough to go into space but they do.
While in space they have many problems and just as you think the world is going to die they save it just in time and become heros.
The film seems to be mainly special effects which are a little disappoiting at times and the Russian "comedy" bloke is one of the worst
actors I have ever seen in my life. So why is it in my top 100? Well I think that the small stories of each of the characters are really good
and I also find that the unusual choice of some smelly drillers to save the world instead of the image of some fit and strong lads which is
constantly being hammered into our brains is a pleasant one. It made an interesting change that the good guy dies in the end for once
however expected it was.
One thing that really bothered me about the film was the unrealism of the journey into space but if you want realism you should watch
2001 - A Space Odyssey but if you are just looking for some entertainment then this is the one for you!
Best Line: We've just been asked to save the world. Anyone want to say no?
