Director: Roland Emmerich Star(s): Kurt Russell, James Spader, Jaye Davidson and Viveca Lindfors Date: 1994 Themes: Different dimensions, friendship and love
Review:
A stargate is found and volunteers are needed to go into it. These volunteers are a group of army soldiers and a scientist (James Spader).
When they go throught the stargate they find themselves in another dimension similar to the egyptian age. They explore the land and find
a civilisation similar to ours. They are being controlled by a prince (Jaye Davidson) who lives in a pyramid/space ship. The scientist falls in
love with one of the women there and together with the other people from our dimension they attack the prince and his army.
An original science fiction story with a touch of action, thriller and romance. A refreshing change from the normal save-the-world sci-fi films
which are forced down our throats every year. Although Kurt Russell is the biggest star in the film I believe that James Spader steels the
spotlight. The special effects are fantastic and exciting.
