Reviews:
As you already know, this is my favourite film of all time. The film shows how the media can affect and
manipulate innocent lives.
The story is about a man, Truman (Jim Carrey), who lives a perfectly ordianry life. In fact his life is too normal. As he goes about his normal everyday life he
gets in his car and turns the radio on. Somehow he has picked up a different radio station and he can hear what seems like a film crew giving
directions. At first Truman isn't bothered but overtime he notices strange things and discovers that his whole life was made up for
him by Christof (Ed Harris).
Although this is a very light-hearted film thanks to Carrey's portrayal of Truman it is also rather frightening causes me to come out of the cinema
with questions such as "Do I really exist?" and "Is my whole in control of someone else and is there someone looking out for me"
However atheist or scientific you may be you would come out of the cinema thinking the same thing. This is a very influential film and
Jim Carrey revelation as we discover that he can really act and not just make stupid faces.
An effect that Weir has made and I think works extremely well is the use of the interview with Christof and the Truman Show fans throughout the film which helps to clear up all the nitty
gritty details on how they are able to make up Truman's life.
